2024 Lathom Mark Lodge No 268 Installation

Lathom Mark Lodge, No 268 held their Installation meeting at Southport Masonic Hall on 28th October.   I regular visit Masonic Halls across West Lancs; Cheshire and North Wales and just have to say that Southport Masonic Hall serves the best tasting coffee over the bar.

Now back to the Installation meeting.   In attendance was the APGM, VWBro Geoff Bury, and he was accompanied by WBro Roy Hedges, Prov; AGDC.    Due to illness and work commitments there several members missing and this included the Worship Master and so WBro Karl Brennan had to step into the Master Chair and carry out the ceremony at very short notice.
The meeting was opened with visitors filling in for some of the missing officers.  WBro Hedges entered and announced VWBro Geoff Bury who entered with, Grand and Provincial acting Grand Offices.  Among those who entered in the procession was VWBro Maurice Evans, the PGM’ Special Rep for Southport area.   After the salutations had been given, WBro Alan Foster presented the Master Elect, WBro Neil Latham to the Installing Master for the benefit of Installation.

Considering the short notice that WBro Karl Brennan had been given it was an excellent ceremony.   The explanation of the working tools was given by WBro Alan Foster.  WBro Colin Sherman gave the address to the Worshipful Master and WBro Mark Taylor, PrGJW, gave the address to the Overseers.  Then VWBro Geoff Bury gave a very fine address to the brethren.

Once the ceremony was over VWBro Geoff Bury stepped forward on behalf of the PGM to congratulate WBro Neil Latham for again taking the chair and WBro Karl Brennan for the fine ceremony he had delivered at short notice.  The WM presented an assortment of charity cheques to VWBro Bury and these were gratefully received.   After the meeting at the festive board the APGM again congratulated both WBros, Latham and Brennan, and he also congratulated WBro Alan Foster on his recent promotion to Past Grand Senior Deacon.

He also thanked the PGM’s  Special Rep; VWBro Maurice Evans and his Deputy, WBro Roy Hedges on the hard work they do for the Mark Degree    VWBro Bury then went on to talk about recruitment and how successful the  ‘Magic of the Mark’ presentation at Temperance Mark Lodge in September, had been.  This meeting saw a total of nine possible new members to the Mark Degree and these would be spread across several of the Liverpool Mark Lodges.
All in attendance
VWBro Bury emphasised that these events are a good way of bringing Craft Masons into the Mark Degree and that In December; Freshfield Mark Lodge will be holding a similar event at Southport.    We wish WBro Neil Latham and Lathom Mark Lodge much success for the coming year.
