Son is surprised by Dad at advancement

Newton Mark Lodge, No 1003 started their new season with an advancement ceremony.   The Lodge which meets at Bryn Masonic Hall held their first meeting on 21st October.
Andy McMath; Ian Fisher; Barry Fisher
The Lodge was opened by the WM; WBro Terry Sharpe and the first item on the summons was an In Memorium for WBro Jim Browning, PPrGMO who passed away on 13/7/2024.  The eulogy was given by WBro Arthur Robinson and then the members stood in respect of departed merit.

Once the domestic business was finished, WBro Terry Sharpe asked WBro Barry Fisher to take the chair for the advancement ceremony.    There was a knock on the door and the candidate Bro Ian Fisher entered and was met in the proper manner, before being placed in the safe hands of the acting SD; VWBro Ian Nairn, Past Assistant Provincial Grand Master.
Ian Nairn Joins in
It was a very nice surprise for the candidate to see his Dad in the chair, because Barry had not mentioned to Ian that he was going to do the ceremony.  WBro Fisher did the Lodge and his son proud with the quality of the ceremony. WBro Arthur Robinson explained the Mark Working Tools to the candidate and this was to the same high standard.

When the ceremony was over, Bro Ian Fisher was greeted into the Newton Mark Lodge by the WM, WBro Terry Sharpe.  Ian was then welcomed by WBro Andy McMath the PGM’s Deputy Special Rep for the Wigan Group of Mark Lodges and presented with a letter of welcome into the Mark Degree by RWBro Keith Beardmore.
