Provincial Assistant Grand Secretaries

John is a member of Leyland Mark Lodge and was    
the Master in 2000. He is also a member of  
&
Philadelphia and Adoniram Mark Lodge and was the    
Commander of Leyland RAM in 2010.

For the last twelve years he has been the    
Vice-Captain of Stewards at the annual Provincial    
Mark meeting with specific responsibilities for Security.    
     
In January 2012 he started to work in the Mark    
Provincial Office in Leyland and was appointed    
Provincial Assistant Grand Secretary in May of that    
year. He is enjoys being a member of the small    
team that administers the Province under the    
direction of John Bicknell, the Provincial Grand    
Secretary.    
     
In the Craft he is a Founder Member of Red Rose    
of Lancashire Lodge, which is a Lodge for police    
officers or retired officers who have at some time    
served in the Lancashire Constabulary.    
     
In Chapter he is a Member of Setantia Chapter    
and a Founder Member of Red Rose of Lancashire    
Chapter in the Province of East Lancashire.    
This is the Chapter for police officers and former    
police officers of the Lancashire Constabulary.    
     
John served for thirty years in the Lancashire    
Constabulary serving at Widnes, Halewood,    
Hutton Hall Training School, Headquarters, Fulwood,    
and St Annes. His last posting was Commander    
at Preston Central Division.    
     
Since retirement he has enjoyed long distance    
walking including many of the well-known long-    
distance trails, such as the Coast to Coast walk    
(both ways) and the Pennine Way.  The ‘Camino    
Francais’ across northern Spain to Santiago de Compostela is a particular favourite.    
     
John and his partner Doreen enjoy many holidays in    
Spain and other sunny destinations each year.    
Whilst on these excursions John likes to draw and    
paint in water colour.    
     
John and Doreen have seven grandchildren between    
them and they enjoy playing the role of doting    
grandparents in Australia and in the U.K.    
Before retirement he was a police officer, serving    
for thirty years in the Lancashire Constabulary.    
     
During his police service he served in many and    
varied posts at Headquarters, Widnes, Fulwood,    
and St. Annes. His last posting was Commander at    
Preston Central Division.    
     
Since retirement he has enjoyed long distance    
walking, including many of the well known national    
trails, such as the Coast to Coast walk (both ways)    
and the Pennine Way. The 'Camino Francais' across    
northern Spain ending in Santiago de Compostela    
is a particular favourite.    
     
John and his partner, Doreen, have taken walking    
holidays in the mountains of Austria for the past    
eight years or so, and often visit Doreen's relatives    
in sunny Spain.    
     
Whilst on these holidays John likes to draw and    
paint in watercolour.    
     
John and Doreen have six grandchildren between    
them and they enjoy playing the role of doting    
grandparents to grandchildren in Australia and    
in the U.K.
