Morecambe at the Double

When I was informed they had a double at Morecambe Mark I thought they must have livened up the ceremony to such an extent that it necessitated a stunt double for WM Steve Plevey!
Alan Gregory, Simon Forgham, Steve Plevey, Ian Woods and Geoff Bury
Of course it was in fact a double advancement into the order, the candidates being Ian Woods and Simon Forgham.

Steve and his officers rose to the challenge of conducting this unusual ceremony in fine style.

Helping Steve with a section of the ceremony was Alan Gregory with Geoff Bury presenting the working tools. Alan was the proposer of Simon into the order with Geoff having seconded Ian so their involvement was indeed very appropriate.
Members and visitors
Special mention is merited in the case of senior deacon Adrian Kerslake and junior deacon Frank Heath who negotiated their way through the difficulties of the unfamiliar ceremony that they were faced with to good effect.
Ian and Simon clearly enjoyed the ceremony and expressed that view after the meeting. I would suggest the Morecambe Mark Lodge No 716 have found themselves a pair of “double diamonds that will work wonders” for the lodge (younger readers please refer to advertising slogans of the 1960s/70s).

The evening also saw senior warden David Shaw declared as master elect for the coming year.

The meal that followed was filled with the usual banter and bonhomie you expect at a Mark meeting.

A great example of the Magic of the Mark that made the journey to the Eden project of the north from the Royal port of Barrow very worthwhile.
