THE TRAVELLING  KEYSTONE

THE AIM OF THE TRAVELLING KEYSTONE IS TO PROMOTE VISITING BETWEEN LODGES
WITHIN THE MARK PROVINCE OF WEST LANCASHIRE

NEW RULES – Revised June 2018

At every Provincial Grand Lodge Meeting, the Right Worshipful Provincial Grand Master will announce the holder of the Travelling Keystone and they will be recorded as the first Lodge to hold the stone in the new Masonic season.

The Worshipful Master accompanied by his Lodge Wardens (or substitutes),  together with as many members of the Lodge as may wish to attend - but a MINIMUM of three Lodge members - must, within TWO weeks attend a regular meeting of the nearest Mark Lodge who has not received the stone in the Masonic season and present the stone to the Worshipful Master of that Lodge.

The presentation should be made at the social board following the meeting in order that the Lodge proceedings are not adversely affected.

The receiving Worshipful Master must then, within TWO weeks, attend the first meeting of the nearest Mark Lodge not having held the stone that season and present the stone to the Worshipful Master and so on.

Each transfer of the stone must be recorded in the Log Book which accompanies the stone on its travels and the Worshipful Master receiving the stone must notify the Provincial Webmaster by email to:- mike_beesley@btinternet.com

Any Lodge which fails to transfer the stone within the prescribed two week interval will make a donation of £10.00 to the West Lancashire Mark Charity Fund.

Any exemption from this rule will be at the discretion of the Provincial Grand Master upon receipt of an explanatory request from the Worshipful Master for such exemption.

The W.M. of the Lodge holding the stone at the date of the Provincial meeting will notify the Provincial Grand Secretary and retain the stone. He will then be announced as the first recipient for the next Masonic season at the Provincial meeting.

If the stone has travelled to every Mark Lodge in the Province before the next Provincial Grand Lodge Meeting, the lodge holding the stone at the time will retain it until the Provincial meeting will notify the Provincial Grand Secretary and retain the stone and will be announced as the first recipient for the next Masonic season.

In this manner no Lodge will hold on to the stone for a lengthy period and no lodge will need to travel any great distance to pass on the stone.
