Advancement at Lathom Mark 27/04/26
 
Lathom Mark Lodge No 268 held their last meeting of the season at Southport Masonic Hall on 27th April.

The main item was an advancement ceremony. Attending the meeting was WBro Roy Hedges the PGM’s Special Rep for the Southport and Ormskirk group of Mark Lodges. Roy was accompanied by his deputy WBro Mark Barton; who will soon be going down to London for Grand Lodge in June to receive his appointment to the acting Grand Rank of A.G.D.C. Once the Worshipful Master, WBro Neil Latham had opened lodge it was time to elect the officers for the ensuing year. Bro Paul Dawn was proclaimed as Master Elect and WBro Karl Brennan held on to his position as Treasurer.

It was now time for the advancement of Bro Philip McNair. The candidate was met in the proper manner before being handed over to the Senior Deacon, Bro Bob Woodiwiss and the ceremony was underway. WBro Neil Latham carried out a very enjoyable ceremony. WBro Alan Foster presented the working tools and the conclusion to the ceremony.

When Bro Philip McNair had been advanced, WBro Roy Hedges welcome Philip into the Mark Degree and presented him with a letter from PGM which included an invitation to next year’s PGML which will be held in Blackpool on 11th May 2027. In the risings the Lodge congratulated WBro Mark Barton on his Grand Rank appointment.

With the Lodge closed it was time for a very enjoyable festive board. Bro Philip McNair in response to his toast commented how much he had enjoyed the ceremony and the warmth of the welcome he had received. We wish Philip many enjoyable years in the Mark Degree. We also wish all the members of Lathom Mark Lodge an enjoyable summer.
