177 ATC Squadron Operation Aquarius

July saw the 177 Squadron A.T.C. (Blackpool) operation Aquarius to Ghana. The project was to lay a fresh water pipeline to a village in the north of the Country.

177 Sqn had a target of £30,000 to raise in order to get the project completed and the Mark Province of West Lancashire was able to assist with a contribution of £500.

Photographs show members of the Sqn, the Village and village residents.

They took out their own cook, seen in the mobile cook-house to prepare food on site. There was even time at the end of the visit for a football match against a local team.

Cadets and Officers returned from the trip with lasting memories of a worthwhile project and friendships made. It also brought home to the members of the party how little the villagers have in Ghana and gave them a better sense of value of their own situation here at home.
