Support For Air Cadets Ghana Water Project

The Provincial Grand Master, Bro. Peter Connolly attended Blackpool Airport A.T.C 177 Squadron on Thursday 24th February to present a cheque for £500 to assist 177 Squadron in raising £32.000 for a project this summer which will take 30 Air Cadets to Ghana where they will travel to a village in the Northern part of the Country to lay a fresh water pipe line.

The Cadets are funding the project themselves although the Ghanaian Air force will assist in transporting the Cadets once they have arrived in the Country. This will save them a full days travel time both to and from their location, time which will be well spent on the project.

Fylde Lodge MMM heard of the Squadrons fund raising efforts and decided to support them by ring fencing £200 of a £1200 donation to West Lancs Mark Charities at their Installation meeting in November. Province kindly assisted by adding a further £300 for this very worthy cause and demonstrates the work of the Mark Charities in the Local Community.

W.Bro. Keith Beardmore had a particular interest in the project having been a Cadet Sergeant with 177 Squadron as a teenager and had traveled as an Air Cadet to a front line R.A.F. Base in West Germany.
