Leven Valley School

Leven Valley School is a small rural primary school which has two halls on the school site, one being the main building that is used for curriculum activities such as PE, music, drama performances and assemblies and the other that is a separate building used mainly for school dinners.

Hence they are able to offer use of the second hall as a community facility for the majority of the time, particularly evenings, weekends and holiday periods.

The school values its role as a key stakeholder in the wider community and supports this by sharing its resources and facilities.

The hall offers a space, approximately 15 metres by 7 meters, with chairs, tables and toilets. Car parking is also available on the school grounds.

Feedback from current users indicated that a simple kitchenette facility and a general refurbishment would be beneficial and encourage greater use of the hall by other groups in the community.

This being the case the school governors started a fund raising campaign to achieve the necessary refurbishments, coming up with a budget proposal costing some £7000.

W Bro Jones was Initially approached by W Bro Cliff Mayvers who explained what was required by the school.

Cliff’s daughter in law (Faye), is a governor at the school. At a meeting with Faye and the head teacher, Ian Nicol to review the project, it could be seen that provision of the kitchenette in total would be approximately £4,000.

This seemed worthy of consideration for us to provide and give good support in the community.

The school has since raised the finance (including our donation) to complete the refurbishment and to upgrade the heating system and entrance.
