The annual West Lancs Mark Masons Weekend Away took place on Friday The format this year was a Murder Mystery Weekend when a murder took place with lots of clues being given during the course of the weekend which were picked up by the observant sleuths in the audience. The case was duly investigated and solved by our two acting, bungling policemen.

After dinner on Friday evening the guests were entertained by our version of the TV game “Mr. and Mrs” compared by Tommy McLoughlin. The winning couple was Chrissie and Peter McIntyre. Karaoke and dancing followed until midnight. “Show Time” followed dinner on Saturday evening. The guests were |

Graham Arnold was the lucky winner of the free weekend for two in the hotel draw, which will be taken during the summer months. This was generously provided by the Chatsworth House Hotel. Well done Graham! The weekend concluded after lunch on Sunday, the weather having been kind to us, as the opening photograph shows when we returned home happy and refreshed. The proceeds of the event were in excess of £ 4,500 and will be used to provide
an essential piece of educational equipment for “KIND,” -Kids in need and distress. |
Over 160 people attended the weekend and special thanks are due to the
organisers, W. Bro's. Colin Svenson and Tom McLaughlin, both members of Tuscan
Mark Lodge, who are well supported by their wives Ann and Margaret. Their organisational and entertaining abilities are to be congratulated. Not to be overlooked is Bro. Wayne Cockrell, our props and stage manager for his expert work in looking after the stage shows to whom thanks are appropriate. Thanks also to our Thespians: Dave Mairs, Jack Parker, Fred Hunter, Mervyn Parry, Chrissie and Peter McIntyre for their acting and to Barry Elman for his script writing. We look forward to supporting this happy week end event next year commencing Friday 10th. February 2012 once again at the Chatsworth. Here is advance information for all our supporters who threw themselves into the spirit of the Fancy Dress evening, the theme will be “Ancient Rome.” |
