The annual West Lancs Mark Masons Weekend Away took place on Friday
11th. to Sunday 13th. February 2011. This popular and thriving event was held for the second time in Llandudno again at the Chatsworth House Hotel on the promenade.
The event was honoured by the attendance of the Rt.W. Pr.G.M. Bro. Peter Connolly and his wife Lynne.

The format this year was a Murder Mystery Weekend when a murder took place with lots of clues being given during the course of the weekend which were picked up by the observant sleuths in the audience. The case was duly investigated and solved by our two acting, bungling policemen.

After dinner on Friday evening the guests were entertained by our version of the TV game “Mr. and Mrs” compared by Tommy McLoughlin. The winning couple was Chrissie and Peter McIntyre. Karaoke and dancing followed until midnight.

“Show Time” followed dinner on Saturday evening. The guests were
entertained with music and song provided by some of our talented members and our well known guest singer, Miss. Sarah Lowe.

Fancy Dress was the order of the day and the theme was the “Swinging Sixties.” The finalists were judged by Lynne and Peter Connolly. Graham Arnold and Sue Constable won the men's and women's prizes respectively.

Graham Arnold was the lucky winner of the free weekend for two in the hotel draw, which will be taken during the summer months. This was generously provided by the Chatsworth House Hotel. Well done Graham!

The weekend concluded after lunch on Sunday, the weather having been kind to us, as the opening photograph shows when we returned home happy and refreshed.

The proceeds of the event were in excess of £ 4,500 and will be used to provide an essential piece of educational equipment for “KIND,” -Kids in need and distress.

This organisation, situated at 19 Back Canning Place in Liverpool benefits children seriously in need of support. (www.kind.org.uk) An official presentation will take place in the near future. The details will be reported in due course.

Over 160 people attended the weekend and special thanks are due to the organisers, W. Bro's. Colin Svenson and Tom McLaughlin, both members of Tuscan Mark Lodge, who are well supported by their wives Ann and Margaret. Their
organisational and entertaining abilities are to be congratulated.

Not to be overlooked is Bro. Wayne Cockrell, our props and stage manager for his expert work in looking after the stage shows to whom thanks are appropriate.

Thanks also to our Thespians:
Dave Mairs, Jack Parker, Fred Hunter, Mervyn Parry, Chrissie and Peter McIntyre for their acting and to Barry Elman for his script writing.

We look forward to supporting this happy week end event next year commencing Friday 10th. February 2012 once again at the Chatsworth. Here is advance information for all our supporters who threw themselves into the spirit of the Fancy Dress evening, the theme will be “Ancient Rome.”
