Communication Equipment for James Grundy Update 18th May 2012

You will recall that on the 16th March 2012, The Provincial Grand Master, along with others Mark Masons from the Southport Area Presented James Grundy with a Dyno-vox Communication Computer to assist him with his education needs. The original article can be viewed here.

We have now received an update on James and how the equipment is helping him to progress.

I must start by saying he is progressing very well and above expectations. Jenny, from Dyno-Vox, attended the school last Monday and together with both of James's parents, teachers and his one2one teacher spent over 3 hours updating and explaining the programme for the next four months. She has arranged to give another demo etc. in September. (back up from the company appears to be excellent)

James is now able to understand eight items on the screen. One of them is an aid to his cookery lessons.
He is now, after such a short time, able to go to the local Tesco store and by pressing the correct items on the screen begins with, 'I would like' then he is able to buy the required items by pressing various parts of the screen which have been pre-programmed.

In the few months since his trial in January his progress, according to his school, has been quite
remarkable.

The feed back from the publicity in the local newspaper has been amazing. The number of people who have spoken to me and said they had seen masonry in a new light with its charity giving.
