A colourful evening at Ridgmont, 18th May 2012

On a wet and wind Friday night over forty Mark Masons assembled at Ridgmont House, Why  ??

To witness Jack Ball install that  ‘well known man about Town’,  John James Dawber into the Chair of Adoniram.

The Installation was a warm, friendly and smooth Ceremony, enjoyed by all present.  W.Bro. Ken Alker P.G.J.D. attending as the Provincial Grand Masters Representative,  at the appropriate moment congratulated all who had taken part, wishing them well, at the same time encouraging their enjoyment of all their masonic activities lastly thanking them for the donations supporting the West Lancs Mark Charity and Northwest Air Ambulance.

The Festive Board was a lively affair with the Brethren enjoying excellent food in pleasant surroundings.  Many of those Brethren by some chance of faith appeared to be celebrating their birthday which was suitably acknowledged.

As the evening drew to a close Ken Alker (as the Provincial Grand Masters Representative) together with other distinguished guests retired, before retiring however Ken once again thanked the Brethren for an extremely enjoyable and rewarding evening suggesting we could all reflect in the warm satisfying glow which ensued after the camaraderie and fellowship of the evening.

“when I approached the Secretary making arrangement for a photo asking the WM and Master Elect to be their at 5.15pm, the reply came back that John Dawber likes his photograph being taken so much he would turn up at midnight if required”, the result is below.

Sunglasses were donned when three members of the Lodge showed their waistcoats, everyone soon became aware they were members of the Ancient and Honourable Fraternity of Royal Ark Mariners.

L to R Ivan Millington, Gordon Greenhalgh, Peter Schofield

At the Festive Board, after the Master has responded to the toast to his health, one of the merry band of three gave a brief mention of the degree, sufficient to kindle interest from anyone not already a member.

At a suitable interlude a raffle was held which once again showed the generosity of Mark Masons.
