Welcome to The West Lancashire Mark Masons Web Site
Brethren, | |||||
I wish you all a happy and prosperous new year as we enter 2024.
The year ahead presents hope and expectation both in our personal family lives, our civil and social circles and our Mark and other Masonic connections.
We can reflect on 2023 with mixed emotions. A year of economic ups and downs with some political chaos along with turmoil in certain areas of the World.
Yet our Mark Degree, both in this Province and throughout the whole constitution seems to be on the upward curve.
Our own Provincial numbers are replacing the losses in the Pandemic years and now showing growth. I urge everyone to continue the recruitment campaign to strengthen our Lodges. Take advantage of the new presentation from one of the Executive Members, |
|||||
including the Magic of the Mark video by arranging an event, (after the Lodge meeting or a specially designated evening) to host our Craft Brethren and enlighten them on our Order.
W.Bro Giles Berkley Dep.PGM, presented such an event at Semper Fidelis Lodge MMM at St Annes recently with resounding success, having a number of candidates signed up to join the Lodge in this coming year.
Only by being more bold and outward can we push out the message of our wonderful Order to our Craft colleagues, which after all is our only source of membership.
The Mark Degree is the Fourth Regular Step in Freemasonry, it is the second step in the chronological order of the Masonic story and makes sense of the building and rebuilding of the Temples in our Masonic history.
The end of 2023 left us in great sorrow with the sudden and untimely loss if W. Bro David Winder, Grand Steward, Ass.PGM.
David was taken ill only five weeks before he passed away. The information about his condition had, at his own request, been kept very low key as he did not wish to worry anyone with Christmas coming in the following weeks. He had been in fine form at the Provincial Ball as the photos in the report show and his condition came as a great shock to everyone. He will be greatly missed by us all, he had made a great impression since his appointment in May at PGL, following his two year term as Provincial Senior Warden. |
|||||
His caring demeanour along with a personality that matched his big stature made him ideally suited to his office and we will miss him greatly. He was a good man, a good friend and a good Mason.
I know it would have been David’s wish that we continue to practice and enjoy our Mark Masonry as 2024 unfolds.
Since September we have Advanced 50 new members in our Lodges and I would like to target 100 Advancements before this Mark season ends in May but that is up to you as Members of your Lodges to achieve, please do your best to bring the Magic of the Mark into the lives of your Craft Colleagues.
